Obstetrical Care Unit
The Obstetrical unit offers an intimate family oriented birth experience, assisted by today's modern technology. The spacious Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR) rooms allow mothers to experience labor and delivery in comfortable familiar surroundings. Our C-Section Room is also located in the OB Unit, eliminating the need to transfer to the OR. All C-sections are attended by an obstetrician, an anesthesiologist or certified nurse anesthetist, a respiratory therapist, and a nursery nurse. CGRMC has a variety of pain management options available 24 hours a day, which allows you to select various methods of pain relief available during labor and delivery, including epidurals. Our unit has six Labor and Delivery rooms and ten private rooms for the remainder of the stay.
A pediatrician will see your baby within 24 hours of delivery and on the day of discharge. If you have a pediatrician you prefer, you may indicate that before or after your delivery and schedule your newborn's follow up appointments with that physician. After recovery, the mother is moved to a private room where family members may visit comfortably. One adult is allowed to stay in the hospital with the mother. Mothers may choose to have baby room-in or spend some time in the nursery. Under certain health precautionary restrictions, ( RSV, H1N1), children may be restricted from visiting the OB unit. All of our nurses are certified as Neonatal Resuscitation Providers (NRP). Security within the unit is also a high priority to CGRMC. Other features of our unit include afternoon snack service and the Newborn Channel 24 hours a day which provides information for new parents.
