CGRMC Delivers Food to Help Area People on Hard Times

January 04, 2012

Casa Grande Regional Medical Center held its annual Christmas Buffet last month, and an integral part of the hospital’s 2011 yuletide event is that it is always associated with the hospital’s year’s-end food drive, which this year was successful beyond expectations, with a total of 8,129 canned goods and $890 in employee and volunteer cash donations.

In addition, CGRMC added a $3,000 donation that was divided equally between three food banks in the hospital’s service area.

“Employees were asked to bring a can of food to donate in exchange for a holiday meal on Friday,” said Karen Kerr-Osman, CGRMC director of community relations and foundation. “Rona [Curphy, CGRMC president and CEO] challenged the departments to increase food donations over past years, and the donations will go to support the food banks in our service areas: Casa Grande, Eloy and Coolidge.

“The success of this year’s food drive is phenomenal. To put it all into perspective, last year, we collected 1,058 food items and $541 in cash donations, and the hospital also added a $1,000 cash donation to each of the food banks."
